DIMAPUR — The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has demanded a swift police investigation of “no more than two weeks” in connection with the alleged abduction and molestation of a young woman inside a moving autorickshaw on June 15.
In a representation submitted to the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, the CYF warned that failure to act within the stipulated time would compel them “to take other recourse.”
Citing the victim’s account, the youth body stated that the driver had diverted from the agreed route without informing the victim and continued to drive despite repeated pleas to stop, indicating a premeditated plan between the driver and the co-passenger.

Consequently, the CYF demanded a trial for the driver, accusing him of complicity in the crime. “We also demand that the case be treated as an abduction and kidnapping case besides molestation, sexual assault, assault that caused physical injury, and attempt to rape and murder.”
Further, it demanded that the co-passenger, believed to be 17 years old, should undergo an immediate ossification test. “Should the ossification test prove that the accused is in fact 17 years old, we demand that the accused be tried under adult law through the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, that allows certain cases for juveniles aged 16-18 to be tried as an adult,” it added.
The CYF demanded compensation for the victim under Section 357 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).“The physical injury she incurred from trying to save her own life has caused permanent scar not just on her mental health, but also on her physical body, including her face.
“That has now stripped her of a chance to continue her job in the same industry. It is evident that the victim will now be compelled to look for other sources of income, away from an industry she’s already acquired the skill for,” it stated.
