CEDOK felicitates NBSE rank holders from Catholic schools.

DIMAPUR — The Commission for Education Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK) has felicitated NBSE rank holders from Catholic schools along with institutions that achieved 100% pass results during a function held at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Cathedral Campus in Kohima, on Friday.
An update from CEDOK stated that a total of 36 rank holders including 24 in HSLC and 12 in HSSLC were honoured on the occasion, while a total of 13 schools including 11 in HSLC and 2 in HSSLC recorded 100% results were also felicitated.
It mentioned that Catholic schools registered zero drop-out at the HSLC level for the second consecutive year, with all enrolled students appearing for the board examinations and achieving an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.3%.
The toppers were presented with certificates, mementos and cash awards.

CEDOK also offered a special scholarship to Andrew Billung for his dedication and enduring hard work, who besides supporting the family and his own education through his earning, could secured 20th rank in HSLC.
Dr. Tseilhoutuo Ato Rhütso, Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Kohima Town Constituency, attended the occasion as the special guest, while Elias T Lotha, transport commissioner, attended as the guest of honour.
Sharing his personal life journey, Dr. Rhütso exhorted the students to embrace discipline and perseverance during their formative years. Addressing HSLC toppers, he remarked that a few years of dedicated effort could ensure decades of fruitful living.
In his advice to the HSSLC students, Dr. Rhütso stated that they are entering a “freedom period,” which, if misused, could be detrimental. Encouraging the youth to aspire becoming “international citizens,” he stressed the importance of remaining grounded in values.
While acknowledging that it might not be possible to master every subject, he advised the students to strive to understand the fundamental truths that connect all knowledge.
To the parents, he stated that while education might appear costly, ignorance is far more expensive. He, therefore, urged them to invest wholeheartedly in their children’s future.
In his address, Elias Lotha emphasised that success is not an individual achievement but the result of collective efforts of dedicated teachers and supportive parents. He encouraged the students to aim higher, dream bigger and continue learning, while also reminding them to use their talents for the greater good and contribute positively to society.
Shreya Singh, HSLC 3rd rank holder from Holy Child School, Burma Camp, spoke on behalf of the awardees. She shared her journey of success and expressed gratitude to the organisers for recognising the hard work and dedication of the students.
The programme witnessed vibrant cultural presentations including dances, songs and choreographies performed by students from various Catholic schools in and around Kohima.
The awards were presented by the dignitaries including Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, secretary and chairperson (additional charge) of NBSE, and Jonas Yanthan, president of the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN), along with the special guest and guest of honour.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel, secretary of CEDOK, delivered the welcome address, where he highlighted that the Catholic Church, through its widespread network of schools across all districts of Nagaland, continues to uphold education as a primary mission.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rev. Fr. Renthungo Victor, joint secretary of CEDOK and principal of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.
