Can Youth distributed safety gear to community first responders trained in Dimapur and Chümoukedima,

DIMAPUR — Can Youth organised a distribution programme of materials for community first responders (CFRs) at its office in Dimapur on Saturday, marking the completion of the training programme conducted across Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts.
The training was implemented in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) during 2024–2025, according to a press release.
The programme was attended by officials from the NSDMA and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), CFRs, civil society representatives, and invited guests.
Delivering the keynote address, Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, Founder and Chief Functionary of Can Youth, highlighted the significance of the CFR initiative in strengthening community-based disaster preparedness.

He stated that through the partnership with NSDMA, young volunteers have been equipped with essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies and disasters. He encouraged the trained responders to continue serving their communities with dedication, compassion, and integrity, stressing that disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility.
A presentation showcasing the journey and achievements of the CFR Training Programme was followed by an experience-sharing session by CFR Prodip Dey, who reflected on the valuable skills and confidence gained through the training.
The special guest, P Inaka Sema, Assistant Manager (GCC) at NSDMA and Nodal Officer of DDMA Dimapur, commended Can Youth and the CFRs for their commitment to disaster preparedness.
He urged the volunteers to always prioritise their own safety before assisting others during emergencies and stressed that the helmets and reflective jackets symbolise dignity, responsibility, and preparedness. He encouraged every responder to wear the uniform with pride while serving the community.
The highlight of the programme was the distribution of helmets and reflective jackets to the trained CFRs.
