DIMAPUR — YouthNet, in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), inaugurated a banana fibre extraction unit along with a facility for producing value-added products in Moya village, Kiphire, on Thursday.
This initiative is part of the skill training programme on capacity building intervention for women artisans under the Kiphire Banana Fibre Cluster, supported by SIDBI’s Project CARE, an update from YouthNet stated.
It said that this milestone marks a step towards sustainable livelihood generation in Moya village, empowering 150 youth and women artisans with the skills and infrastructure needed to engage in eco-friendly, value-added production.
Moya, located in the Pungro Circle of Kiphire district, is part of the Pungro block—recognised as an aspirational block.

As part of the programme, participants are receiving comprehensive training on key areas, including financial management, self-help group (SHG) and cluster development, product compliance and certifications, value chain creation, branding, packaging, and pricing, along with many other essential skills to build sustainable and market-ready enterprises.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by S Kiusumew Yimkhiung, MLA and Advisor for Home Guard and Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Relief and Rehabilitation.
Also present were Vikram Kumar, Assistant Manager and Branch-in-Charge, SIDBI Nagaland, along with his team, and Nuneseno Chase, Director of YouthNet, accompanied by YouthNet representatives.
