Veterinary college conducts livestock awareness and animal health camp at Old Jalukie village, treating 309 animals.
DIMAPUR — The College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, CAU (Imphal), Jalukie, organised an “Awareness on pig and poultry diseases and disorders-cum-animal health camp” at Old Jalukie village, Peren on September 26.
The event was led by Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, alongside faculty members and students, under the supervision of Dr. I Shakuntala, Dean of the college.
According to an update, during the technical session, resource persons delivered lectures on pig and poultry diseases, disorders, and management. Dr. Tukheswar Chutia spoke on “Common reproductive diseases and disorders in pigs and its management”.
Lectures on “Importance of hygiene in pig and poultry farming”, “Common diseases in swine and its management”, “Managemental disorders in pigs and poultry”, and “Seasonal poultry diseases and its management” were delivered by Dr. A Palanisammi; Dr. Gunjan Das, Professor and Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine; Dr. S Zeshmarani, Professor and Head of the Department of Livestock Production Management; and Dr. K Merina Devi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Livestock Farm Complex, respectively.

Essential veterinary supplies, including vitamins, mineral mixtures, anthelmintics, and antibiotics, were distributed to local farmers, benefiting a total of 309 livestock. The programme concluded with a total of 44 participants, comprising 28 local farmers and 16 officials.
