LFM & KTTI, Mokokchung, organised a workshop on dolls and basket making to promote indigenous crafts, skill development and culturally rooted education.
MOKOKCHUNG — The Little Friends Montessori & Teachers Training Centre (LFM & KTTI), Mokokchung, organised a one-day workshop on dolls and basket making at its premises on September 26, with the aim of promoting indigenous craft traditions and equipping trainee teachers with hands-on, culturally rooted pedagogical skills.
In the formal session, LFM & KTTI assistant professor and administrator Lima Lemtur highlighted the importance of craft-integrated learning in the Montessori system and its role in the holistic development of children.
He also outlined the courses offered by the institution, including Montessori Teachers’ Training under Vidyasagar Delhi University, available in both offline and online modes.
Greetings were delivered by Arenlong, assistant general secretary of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), and Mangyang, president of the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM). They commended the institution for promoting skill-based and value-oriented education.

Delivering the workshop address, S Moa Walling of Dimapur emphasised the importance of preserving traditional craftsmanship as a means of promoting self-reliance, cultural identity and entrepreneurship.
Participants received practical training in material selection, indigenous techniques, innovative design and finishing for dolls and basket making.
The institution expressed gratitude to the Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, for sponsoring the workshop and supporting initiatives aimed at preserving tribal art, skill development and educational empowerment.
The workshop saw active participation from teacher trainees and craft enthusiasts and concluded with a vote of thanks and a commitment to organise more skill-oriented workshops.
