CNTC, TUN and ENPUM acknowledge land donated by three Ungma clans, describing the gesture as a symbol of unity, brotherhood and cooperation.
DIMAPUR — Representatives of the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Tenyimia Union Nagaland (TUN) and Eastern Nagaland People’s Union of Mokokchung (ENPUM), arrived at Ungma village on Saturday to formally acknowledge the land donated to the three organisations by the Ungma Village Council (UVC).
A reception and felicitation programme was held at the Rongpu Astro Turf in the presence of representatives of the three blocks, Ao Senden, the village council, land donors and well-wishers. The programme was chaired by UVC secretary Nungsangtemjen.
CNTC president Hukiye K Yepthomi, TUN president KT Villie and ENPUM president Y Among Yimkhiung delivered brief speeches expressing gratitude and encouragement, followed by an address by Ao Senden general secretary Imti Longkumer.
In their respective addresses, the three leaders expressed gratitude to the UVC and the land donors for what they described as a historic gesture. They said the initiative was a first-of-its-kind in Nagaland and carried a message of unity, brotherhood and mutual understanding.
They stressed the need for the three blocks to understand, respect and support one another and work collectively.
They expressed hope that the donated land would serve as a place to foster greater cooperation and fellowship and that strengthened unity would enable them to work together for the welfare of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the land donors, Tatars Imtidongba Jamir, R Nungshilepden Jamir and Imtisungkum Longkumer said the donation was an effort to “sow the seed of unity” among brothers in Nagaland.
They expressed hope that the initiative would grow into something bigger and more meaningful in the years ahead.
The Tatars also encouraged the three organisations to utilise the donated land at the earliest and assured that the land had been donated to the respective blocks and would remain with them permanently.
A special presentation prepared by TUN was also held during the programme. Shawls and sashes arranged by TUN were presented to the village council and representatives of the three blocks.
The land was donated by three clans: the Lanusuwa Jamir Clan to CNTC, the Shikiyangba Jamir Clan to TUN and the Sentimongba Longkumer Clan to ENPO. It was stated that the plots were allotted through a lottery system and were not individually selected by the respective clans.
The CNTC, TUN and ENPUM expressed gratitude to the UVC, the three land-donating clans, Ao Senden and all those who contributed to the programme.
