Assam Rifles personnel donate blood in Meluri and Phek districts.

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles personnel demonstrated their commitment to community service by donating a total of 4 units of blood in Meluri and Phek districts on Sunday.
The blood donation drive was organised to support patients in need of urgent medical attention, highlighting the importance of blood donation in saving lives, a defence release stated.
In Meluri, two units of O positive blood were donated to Yeedave, a 17-year-old resident of Akhegwo village, who was suffering from post-partum haemorrhage.
“The timely donation helped the young mother receive the medical attention she needed, and she is now recovering well. The medical team at the hospital praised the donors for their selfless act, stating that the donation had played a crucial role in stabilising the patient's condition,” it stated.
In Phek, two units of O positive blood were donated to Niekhutalu Keyho, a 65-year-old resident of Phek village, who is battling blood cancer.

The donation has helped alleviate the patient's critical blood shortage, providing her with a much-needed boost in her treatment. The patient's family expressed their gratitude to the donors, stating that the donation had given them hope and renewed their faith in humanity, it stated.
“The selfless act by Assam Rifles personnel has been widely appreciated by the local community. The recipients and their families expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the donors for saving precious lives.
“Assam Rifles continues to work towards building strong relationships with the local communities it serves. Initiatives like these demonstrate their commitment to community welfare and humanitarian causes,” the release stated.
The organisation has been involved in various community development initiatives in the region and this blood donation drive is a notable example of their efforts to make a positive impact, it added.
