Assam Rifles conducts medical camps, first aid awareness and community welfare activities across Nagaland.
DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted a series of healthcare, awareness, welfare and training activities at various locations across Nagaland.
A free medical camp was conducted at Ghotovi village in Niuland on Sunday, where 95 people, including women, children and elderly persons, underwent health screening and received free medical consultation and medicines.
According to an update, medical personnel also provided guidance on maintaining good health, identifying common health concerns and seeking timely medical attention, with a focus on preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle practices.
An awareness session covered hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, first aid and preventive healthcare. Villagers were encouraged to maintain personal and environmental cleanliness, follow nutritious dietary practices, develop basic first aid knowledge and adopt preventive measures against common illnesses.
At Kanjang in Meluri district, a medical camp was conducted on September 12, where 101 villagers, comprising 36 males, 43 females and 22 children, underwent medical check-ups.
The medical team conducted general health examinations, provided consultations and offered necessary treatment and medicines. Villagers were also sensitised on personal hygiene, healthy lifestyle practices and the need to seek timely medical attention for persistent or serious health issues.
In Mon, Assam Rifles organised a free dental and medical camp on September 12, providing medical consultations, general health check-ups, dental examinations and treatment to the local population.
Dental services included extractions, fillings, oral hygiene counselling and awareness on preventive dental care, while the medical team conducted clinical assessments, provided consultations for various ailments and distributed essential medicines free of cost.
Awareness sessions focused on preventive healthcare, early detection of diseases, oral hygiene, healthy lifestyle habits, timely medical consultation and regular health check-ups. Women, children and elderly persons were among those who attended the camp.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles conducted a first aid awareness campaign at Enhulumi village in Phek district on September 12 to mark World First Aid Day, with 38 villagers participating.
Practical demonstrations were conducted on basic first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other essential measures during medical emergencies.
Participants were provided information on responding promptly during emergencies and providing immediate assistance before professional medical help becomes available.
Under Operation Sadbhavana, Assam Rifles also distributed 10 sewing machines to residents of Riehuope village in Meluri district to promote self-reliance, women empowerment and livelihood opportunities.
The initiative was undertaken to provide local women with opportunities to acquire vocational skills and generate income for their families through tailoring and self-employment. Villagers expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for the assistance.
Separately, Assam Rifles organised an Art of Living Stress Management Training Programme for its personnel at Meluri from September 7 to the 12th.
The programme was conducted by the Art of Living Foundation, founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
It included yoga, meditation, Sudarshan Kriya, breathing techniques, mindfulness and interactive sessions on positive thinking and work-life balance. The programme was aimed at promoting mental well-being, stress management, emotional resilience and inner strength among personnel deployed in demanding operational conditions.
