Zunheboto DLSA and Hezukhu Memorial District Hospital organised a medical camp for persons with disabilities, offering medical assessments, disability certificates, legal awareness and welfare assistance.

DIMAPUR — The Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA), in collaboration with Hezukhu Memorial District Hospital, Zunheboto, organised a medical camp for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at Town Hall, Zunheboto, on September 11.
According to a DIPR report, the camp was aimed at screening and identifying persons with disabilities, providing medical assessment by qualified medical professionals, and facilitating the issuance of disability certificates to eligible persons.
The programme also provided information and guidance on the rights, entitlements and welfare schemes available to persons with disabilities, along with legal awareness and assistance in accessing free legal services and government benefits
Delivering the keynote address, District & Sessions Judge, Zunheboto, and Chairman, ZDLSA, Atoka Achumi, highlighted the importance of ensuring access to justice, healthcare and welfare benefits for persons with disabilities.

He emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among legal, medical and administrative institutions to ensure that eligible persons receive the support and entitlements available to them.
A short speech was also delivered by Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Zunheboto, Keholi Chishi, who highlighted the importance of medical assessment and timely access to healthcare services for persons with disabilities.
The camp further extended guidance and facilitation to persons requiring additional medical or legal assistance.
Eligible persons were encouraged to attend with their family members or caregivers and avail themselves of the medical, legal and welfare-related services provided at the camp.
The programme, by Retainer Lawyer Easter H Yepthomi, concluded with the closing remarks delivered by Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, ZDLSA, Vesutolu Therie.
