Assam Rifles organises an organ donation awareness drive in Kiphire and a free medical camp in Longzang village, Mon

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles conducted an organ donation awareness programme in Kiphire and a free medical camp under the civic action programme at Longzang village in Mon district on Thursday.
According to an update, in Kiphire, the Assam Rifles organised an event in commemoration of Indian Organ Donation Day with the aim of spreading awareness about the importance of organ donation and encouraging people to contribute towards saving lives.
The programme highlighted organ donation as a noble humanitarian cause and stressed the potential of one donor to provide a new lease of life to several individuals in need of organ transplantation. A total of 65 participants, including 35 civilians and 30 Assam Rifles personnel, actively participated in the programme.
During the awareness session, participants were sensitised about the process of organ donation, the importance of making an informed and voluntary pledge, and the need to dispel myths and misconceptions associated with organ donation. The programme encouraged participants to obtain authentic information, make informed decisions, and come forward to support the cause of organ donation.

Meanwhile, in Mon district, Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Longzang village. The initiative aimed to provide accessible healthcare services to the local population residing in remote and underserved areas.
A medical team conducted health check-ups, provided medical consultations, and distributed essential medicines free of cost, along with basic diagnostic and outreach services. The medical camp also provided medical assistance to victims of a recent fire incident at Longzang village.
Special emphasis was laid on preventive healthcare, maternal and child health, management of common ailments, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Awareness sessions were also conducted on the early detection of diseases, timely medical consultation, and the adoption of preventive health measures.
