Parvati Jangid Suthar visits Assam Rifles

Renowned social activist and youth leader Colonel (Hony) Parvati Jangid Suthar visited Assam Rifles campuses at Kashiram Basti (Dimapur), Medziphema, and Kohima between August 26 and 28.

A press release mentioned that, fondly known as the “Sister of Soldiers” and hailing from the border village of Gagariya in Rajasthan, Jangid has become a symbol of support for India’s armed forces.

Over the years, she has personally tied rakhi to more than 4,00,000 defence personnel, often travelling to the most remote and high-risk areas along the India–Pakistan and India–China borders.

During her visit, she interacted with troops, listening to their experiences and expressing gratitude on behalf of the nation. At the war memorial, she offered floral tributes to fallen heroes. A rakhi-tying ceremony followed, where she tied sacred threads on the wrists of soldiers.

The event concluded with the felicitation of individuals in the unit who demonstrated exceptional commitment in their service.

Medical camp at Pishikhu village

Assam Rifles organised a medical camp for three villages at Pishikhu in Niuland district. The camp focused on providing primary healthcare services, with special attention given to women and the elderly.

The medical staff attended to a wide range of common ailments, offering free consultations and medicines to all who visited. One of the highlights of the camp was the setup of a basic laboratory facility that enabled on-the-spot blood and urine tests.

Additionally, sessions on hygiene, preventive care, and general health awareness were conducted, aimed at empowering villagers with knowledge to manage their health proactively.

National Integration Tour

Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavana, flagged off a National Integration Tour from Kiphire on August 29 with the aim of fostering national integration, cultural exchange, and broadening the horizons of the youth.

A total of 20 students and two teachers from PM Shri Government High School, Yangphi, Kiphire district, are participating in the tour, which is scheduled from August 29 to September 12.

The itinerary includes visits to Kohima, Delhi, and Agra, where participants will explore historical landmarks such as the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, National War Memorial, and National Museum. The tour also offers the students an opportunity to interact with the president of India and other distinguished dignitaries.

The tour was flagged off by the DIG, Assam Rifles, who highlighted the role of youth in shaping the nation’s future and reiterated Assam Rifles’ commitment towards fostering unity and goodwill in the nation.

The ceremony was attended by parents of the students, civil society representatives, and officers of the Assam Rifles.

The National Integration Tour is part of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles' continuing efforts under Operation Sadbhavana to promote peace, understanding, and national pride amongst the younger generation by empowering them through exposure, education, and cultural awareness.
