Ao Lanur Telongjem Chümoukedima marks Good Friday with community service at Naga Cemetery.

DIMAPUR — The Ao Lanur Telongjem Chümoukedima (ALTC) carried out its annual community service initiative at the Naga Cemetery, with members participating in a cleanliness drive.
According to a press release, this year’s programme included a remembrance for five women — Yangerinla Ao, Bendangla Jamir, Lepzungsangla Pongen, Imtimenla Ao, and N Amongla Ao — who lost their lives in a bus accident on January 31.
Altogether, 150 members of ALTC participated in the social work, which coincided with Good Friday.
“The act of service was not only a gesture of community solidarity but also a heartfelt tribute to lives cut short, reminding all present of the enduring bond between memory and faith,” it stated.
The programme was blessed by Dr. Imtisangba Ao, pastor of Ao Baptist Church Chümoukedima, who offered prayers of comfort and encouragement.
His words underscored the significance of honouring the departed while embracing the message of Good Friday — that through loss and sorrow, communities can find strength, healing, and renewed purpose, it stated.

Talisunep Walling, president of ALTC, stated that the initiative reflects their commitment to social responsibility and spiritual reflection.
“As we clean and restore spaces of remembrance, we also cleanse our hearts with gratitude and humility. Today, we honour the legacy of our sisters whose lives continue to inspire us,” he said.
Walling also thanked the Ao Senso Telongjem Chümoukedima, Watsu Telen Chümoukedima and Ao Students Union Chümoukedima for their participation.
He further thanked the Chümoukedima Town Council, led by chairman Lhousito Khro, for providing refreshments.
“This annual community service stands as a testament to ALTC’s dedication to community welfare, faith, and the power of collective action. By intertwining remembrance with Good Friday observance, the programme became a living expression of compassion, resilience, and hope," the release added.
