KOHIMA — After eight days, the local and zonal taxi verification drive in Kohima, undertaken by the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO), concluded on Wednesday, with a total of 1,785 taxis verified.
The verification drive started on June 24 and was initially scheduled to end on June 28, but the AYO extended it until July 2.
The AYO officials told media persons on Wednesday that many cases are pending due to the absence of proper documents and cases where permits were issued after the government order on July 6, 2022. They said that such permits are being kept in abeyance.

It was mentioned that they will hold a proper meeting, discuss the details, and inform the media very soon about their next steps.
They also announced that very soon they will conduct surprise checks of taxi permits, whereby vehicles without verified stickers will not be allowed to ply in Kohima.
They clarified that they have not issued verified stickers to taxis whose permits are kept in abeyance. They reiterated that taxi registration number NL01TA7303 is the last number as per the government order on July 6, 2022, and all permits issued after that date have been kept in abeyance.
They informed that they will have a meeting with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) regarding this issue.
