  • Advisor Mannen lays foundation stone for KVOPP

  • DIMAPUR — The advisor of Law and Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, on May 3 laid the foundation stone for setting up of Khutak Valley Organic Processing Plant (KVOPP) at Khutak valley processing site under Khanimu-Longjang village on May 3.

  • Speaking at the programme, Mannen claimed that Longjang area has the potential to become the ‘bread basket’ of Mokokchung district due to its geographical location and fertility suitable for various farming activities.

  • Encouraging the youth and the farmers, he stated that farming is the salvation for livelihood of the masses and thanked the horticulture department for the constant support rendered to Khutak Valley Organic Producer Company Limited Longjang (KVOPCLL).

  • While thanking the retired officers of Longjang village for shouldering the responsibility to start the Khutak Valley Organic Producer Company Limited Company, he reminded them to make KVOPCLL products as a brand.

  • "Do not let temporary setbacks discourage KVOPCLL on the path towards a bigger vision. Let this project be the first step for economic renaissance for the village of Longjang and Khanimu,” the advisor said.

  • Dr. Amenla, district horticulture officer (DHO) of Mokokchung, lauded the board members of KVOPCLL for paving the way for the farmers of Longjang and Khanimu village by introducing the initiative for income generation through organic product under MOVCDNER.

  • She stated that installation of machineries for the organic plant would commence soon and encouraged the farmers to expand the plantation of citrus fruits in the region.

  • It may be mentioned that Khutak Valley Organic Processing Plant (KVOPP) is a project launched by the department of Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) with the Entrepreneur Associates, Nagaland, as the supporting partner.

  • MOVCDNER is a central sector scheme implemented by the Indian government to promote organic farming and value addition in the northeast. It aims to support farmers in adopting sustainable practices, create market linkages for organic produce and build a robust organic value chain in the region.
