DIMAPUR — The 78 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force celebrated its 41st Raising Day at its headquarters in Zubza, Kohima, on Monday.
The battalion was raised on June 1, 1985, at Group Centre Avadi, Tamil Nadu, and has since served in various operational theatres across the country.
According to an update, the raising day celebrations commenced with paying homage to the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. A special Sainik sammelan was organised by the Commandant of the 78 Battalion. Sports events, a cultural programme, and a Bara Khana were also held as part of the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, the commandant highlighted the battalion's journey and praised the dedication of its personnel. He also reiterated the importance of maintaining discipline, operational readiness, and public service.
To mark the occasion, a library named "Aksharalaya" was inaugurated at the battalion headquarters in Zubza to promote reading and enhance the professional capabilities of the force personnel.

In a separate event, the 78 Battalion CRPF, in collaboration with the Kohima Forest Division, Kohima Range, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, organised a joint tree plantation drive at the Forest department's land in Chakhabama, Kohima district.
The plantation was conducted on the theme "Inspired by nature – for climate, for our future", aiming to enhance green cover, restore ecological health, and promote biodiversity. Officers and personnel of the 78 Battalion CRPF, alongside Kohima Forest Division staff, participated in planting indigenous saplings.
Assistant Commandant Vikram and Forest Ranger Khrielakuolie highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
It was mentioned that the 78 Battalion CRPF has been deployed in Nagaland since 2007 for maintaining peace, law and order, and other security duties. The battalion also conducts various community outreach programmes, including football tournaments, school topper felicitations, cleanliness drives, and free medical camps.
