KOHIMA — Six Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have been appointed as Advisors to the Chief Minister and assigned with the task of rendering their advice to various departments with immediate effect.
An official notification dated June 1 , 2026 stated that the arrangement would help utilise the vast and practical experience of the legislators for the benefit of the public.
It added that the Advisors will render their advice on matters referred to them by the concerned departments and provide their views and suggestions before being placed before the respective ministers-in-charge for decision.

However, it clarified that the Advisors will not be entitled to any pay, salary, emoluments, remuneration, perks or other advantages from the Government of Nagaland, apart from those normally admissible to them as members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly through the Assembly Secretariat.
The MLAs and the departments assigned are as follows:
Kuzholuzo Nienu – Science & Technology
Puthai Longon – Taxes
Picto Shohe – New & Renewable Energy
Achumbemo Kikon – SCERT and Food Processing
Nyusietho Nyuthe – NSDMA and Inland Waterways
Daochier I. Imchen – Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation.
