The 12th Inter-Departmental Tournament in Zunheboto concluded with PHED emerging as the overall champion among 55 participating departments.

DIMAPUR — The closing function of the 12th Inter-Departmental Tournament was held at the DSCZ Indoor Stadium, Zunheboto, on October 31, bringing the three-day sporting event, which saw the participation of 55 departments under Zunheboto district, to a conclusion.
According to a DIPR report, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Zunheboto, clinched the overall championship, while the 8th NAP, Naltoqa, emerged as the runners-up. The event also featured the final matches and a song presented by Leah P Kiba.
In the badminton category, the Department of Youth Resources won the women’s doubles, while Social Welfare came second. The men’s singles and doubles were both won by the 8th NAP, with DEF, Zunheboto, and PWD (R&B), Aghunato, finishing as runners-up, respectively.

In carrom, PHED, Zunheboto, emerged winner in both the women’s and men’s categories, with DEF, Zunheboto, as runners-up in both events. PHED, Zunheboto, also retained its men’s doubles title for the fifth time.

In arm wrestling, the Education Department won in the women’s category, followed by DEF, Zunheboto, as runners-up, while in the men’s category, DEF, Zunheboto, emerged as the winner, followed by the district administration.
In chess, Zunheboto Government College claimed victory in the men’s category, with PWD (Housing) as runners-up. DRDA, Zunheboto, was declared the winner in the women’s category by walkover.
In the penalty shootout, the Education Department won in the men’s category, with Excise, Zunheboto, as runners-up, while in the women’s category, PHED, Zunheboto, secured the title, and DRDA, Zunheboto, finished second.
