DIMAPUR — The 12th Zunheboto District Inter-Departmental Tournament-cum-Deputy Commissioner Cup, organised by the District Administration and the District Sports Council Zunheboto (DSCZ), got underway at the DSCZ Indoor Stadium, Zunheboto, on Wednesday.
The three-day event features 50 departments competing in various sports disciplines, according to a DIPR update.
Declaring the tournament open, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of DSCZ, Dharam Raj encouraged all participants to enjoy the event and foster teamwork among departments. “This is the first time we are coming together to enjoy as a team. Through this tournament, we aim to promote coordination and inspire a strong sporting spirit—not only in sports but also in our official duties,” he said.
He expressed hope that participants would showcase their talents with enthusiasm and unity. “We have kept the events simple, with both indoor and outdoor activities. I encourage participation from everyone—not only the men but also the womenfolk. Departments like DHEW and others from the periphery are also eligible to participate. Let us all work together as a team for the welfare of the people,” he added.
