KOHIMA — Headhunters FC and Dimapur SC will face each other in the grand finale of the 9th edition of the Captain N Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament on November 6.


They defeated their respective opponents in the semi-final matches played on Monday at Indira Gandhi (IG) Stadium, Kohima.


In the first match, Headhunters FC registered a 3-2 victory over Langsa Hill FC. Langsa Hill opened strongly and scored in the 7th minute through Asezo, but Headhunters FC equalised in the 9th minute through Haotimang.


Soon after, Laiwang scored the second goal in the 19th minute, giving Headhunters the lead. However, Pangai levelled the match in the 44th minute, ending the first half with an equal score.

In the second half, the Headhunters fought back, and Laiwang scored again in the 59th minute, leading his team to victory.

In the second semi-final match, Dimapur SC secured a 2-1 victory over Liishe FC despite the latter having 57% possession during the game.


Kuvezo from Dimapur SC broke the deadlock in the 29th minute; however, the lead did not last long, as Thulunso equalised for Liishe FC in the 34th minute.


Three minutes into the second half, Rhitsho struck in the 48th minute to restore the advantage for Dimapur SC. Despite their dominant possession, Liishe FC could not score against the Dimapur defence.


The third-place match between Liishe FC and Langsa Hill FC will be played on November 5 at 10 am.
