DIMAPUR — With an aim to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bags and to promote sustainable alternatives, the Zunheboto Forest division observed ‘International Plastic Bag Free Day’ on Thursday by organising an awareness programme at its office.
An update from the division stated that the staff led by divisional forest officer, Obed Bohovi Swu, along with a team from Youthnet visited the offices of the deputy commissioner (DC) and superintendent of police (SP) after the programme and highlighted the significance of the day. The team also encouraged the officers and staff to use sustainable bags (reusable bags- cloth, jute, paper etc) for daily use instead of ‘single use plastic bags.’
