Zunheboto district observes World Rabies Day by organising awareness programme with students.

DIMAPUR — The Zunhoboto division of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), in collaboration with the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto, observed World Rabies Day on the theme “Act now: you, me, community.”
An update from the Veterinary department stated that the programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School on September 22 and at Olympic Higher Secondary School on September 23 respectively with an objective of raising awareness on the prevention and control of rabies.

Delivering the awareness message, Dr. Vinoto Aye, veterinary assistant surgeon (VAS), Zunheboto, highlighted the importance of timely management of dog bites and preventive measures against rabies. He further urged students and the community to take active responsibility in spreading awareness and ensure vaccination of pets saying that rabies is a preventable but fatal disease.
It mentioned that the observance reinforced the collective responsibility of individuals, families and communities in combating rabies through education, responsible pet ownership and prompt medical care.
