WOKHA — The Zukhumki Federation, Chukitong Block, under the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), held its third annual general meeting (AGM) at the AG Church in Koio village on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by the Chairman of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises - Promotion Council of India (MSME-PCI), Wokha District, Yanrenthung Humtsoe, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Humtsoe urged the members to continue striving for economic empowerment, self-reliance, and community development through collective efforts and livelihood initiatives. He described the NSRLM as a valuable platform enabling rural communities, particularly women, to improve their livelihoods.

Stressing the importance of financial literacy, he said understanding financial management, government schemes, skill development programmes, and training opportunities is crucial for the success of self-help groups (SHGs). He also requested that NSRLM officials continue facilitating support and awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, Head GB of Koio village Nchumbemo Ezung highlighted the positive impact of SHGs and village-level organisations (VLOs) on the local economy, noting that they have improved household incomes and promoted entrepreneurship among women.
During the experience-sharing session, Lochumlo Kikon narrated the journey of the CIG on Spices, Tsungiki. She recalled that the group, which initially faced challenges, gradually expanded its activities with support from the Agricultural Technology Management Agency, NSRLM, and various capacity-building trainings.
Starting with pickles, ginger candies, and juices, the SHG later diversified into chilli and soybean cultivation. She noted that the group received the Best Performing SHG Award during the Aajeevika and Kaushal Vikas Mela in 2018.
