KIPHIRE — The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Zisaji Presidency College organised an awareness programme in Okhe village, Kiphire, on Tuesday as part of the eighth edition of Poshan Pakhwada 2026.
The programme was held on the theme "Maximising brain development in the first six years of life”. A total of 20 volunteers took part in the event.
During the programme, three volunteers spoke on important topics. Danglila discussed the importance of mother and child nutrition, explaining that proper nutrition is crucial during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood.

She stated that pregnant mothers should eat healthy food and avoid harmful substances, while highlighting the importance of breastfeeding for the first six months and giving nutritious food to growing children.
Thingrila spoke about early stimulation for brain development, while Munguli L Sangtam explained the role of parents and the community in reducing children’s screen time.
The programme was conducted by volunteer Khumtilong, while the head gaonburah of Okhe village delivered a short speech. Following the programme, the volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive in the village.
