
TR Zeliang and Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome along with other
dignitaries during the golden jubilee of PM Shri Government High School in
Peren town on Friday.
- DIMAPUR — Deputy
Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, on Friday called upon the students of government
schools not to harbour inferiority complex with the feeling that students in
private schools perform better than them but to work hard and excel.
- Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of PM Shri
Government High School at DC Colony in Peren town, Zeliang said there are
common narrative in the state that students studying in private schools are
better than students in government schools, which is a wrong perception. On the
contrary, he stated that students of government schools are suppose to perform
better than their private schools counterpart as the government schools
teachers are more qualify, well trained and well paid than those in private
schools.
- Zeliang stated that success is not completely determined by
schools one attend but by sheer hard work and will-power to excel. He,
therefore, stated that students need to work hard, aim high to succeed in life,
stated an update from the deputy CMO.

- The deputy chief minister also urged upon the government
school teachers to rededicate and make resolve to revitalise their respective
schools and upholds its values and purpose.
- Asserting that education is the cornerstone of progressive
society and school serves as a cradle of knowledge, Zeliang urged the
government teachers to embrace modern teaching methods, innovative thinking and
critical learning strategies in order to mould students and face challenges of
contemporary world. He also urged the government teachers not to neglect their
noble responsibility, but rededicate their time for students with discipline,
punctuality and compassion so as to make government schools an excellent place
of learning.
- Besides, he stated that teachers must inspire students not
only to seek job but inspire them to be good human and a change makers in the
community.
- “Gone are the days when merely passing exams and obtaining
certificate was enough to secure job and make livelihood, but today the
scenario has changed completely. Hence, more efforts should be given to meet
the demand of contemporary world,” he said.
- Zeliang further suggested the needs to urgently relook into
deployment and rationalisation of teachers in government schools across the
state so that none of the school is left with shortage of teaching staff.
- Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, advisor of School Education and
SCERT, also spoke on the occasion as guest of honour.
- The celebration was marked with colourful performances by
the students, which was attended by government officials and public leaders.
