DIMAPUR — The District Health Society Longleng observed World Population Day 2025, themed “Healthy timing and spacing between pregnancies for planned parenthood”, at the CMO conference hall on Tuesday.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about the importance of family planning, birth spacing, and maternal health for well-planned and healthy parenthood. The event was attended by C Tsalimse Sangtam, EAC Headquarters Longleng, as the special guest.
According to an update, on the occasion, a keynote address was delivered by Dr. Nounenuo Terhase, obstetrician and gynaecologist, District Hospital Longleng, who emphasised the health benefits of planned pregnancies and the role of healthcare services in supporting reproductive choices.

A short speech was delivered by the special guest, appreciating the efforts of the health department in spreading awareness and encouraging community participation.
The observance forms part of a week-long awareness campaign from July 11 to the 18th, aiming to reach communities across the district with messages on reproductive health and family planning.
