- The event was spearheaded by Dr. Lokho Chakre, convener of
the Eco-Club, who highlighted the ecological and cultural value of indigenous
species.
- “This initiative is not just about planting trees — it’s
about cultivating responsibility, reviving our connection with the land, and
preserving the natural beauty of our region,” he shared.
- ACI Principal Dr. Daili Neli appreciated the collective
effort of the ACI community and noted that such an initiative goes beyond
symbolic celebration. “Planting indigenous trees not only enhances the
landscape but also safeguards local biodiversity and cultural heritage”.
- Through the exercise, the college hopes to instil a lasting
sense of ecological stewardship in every student and staff member.
- The ‘One student, one tree’ campaign is part of ACI’s
broader mission toward environmental education, sustainable campus development
and meaningful community participation.
- “Each student pledged to care for their sapling, turning
this plantation drive into a long-term commitment to the environment.
- “The event concluded with a reaffirmation of ACI’s ongoing
pledge to uphold a ‘Plastic-free campus,’ reinforcing the institute’s holistic
approach to environmental responsibility,” the update added.
