Living Morung Project workshop held at Kiphire village to promote traditional crafts and weaving among villagers.

DIMAPUR — Dimapur, Feb. 18 (EMN): The Office of the District Cultural Officer, Kiphire, under the Department of Art & Culture, organised a one-day workshop under the Living Morung Project at Kiphire village on February 17, along with the Langkok and Longthonger villages.
According to a DIPR report, the workshop was held emphasising on traditional crafts and weaving, with Tsidongchem, chairman of Kiphire village as the special guest.

The District Cultural Officer, Kiphire, Moses Newmai, in his speech stressed the importance of embracing one's culture and identity irrespective of age, social status, divide or the advancement influenced by the western culture.
Head GB of Kiphire village, Tsalimong narrated the history of the village's migration and also stated the significance of a morung, and the importance of handicrafts and weaving in today's generation.
The programme was chaired by Rebeca, LDA, while the welcome address was delivered by Vilila Pojar, ARO Kiphire.
Thsaopi Sangtam (crafts) and Zuzila Sangtam (weaving) were the resource persons for the workshop.
