DIMAPUR — LEMSACHENLOK conducted a day-long workshop on the theme “Reimagining biodiversity conservation: giving importance to sustainable community conservation with digitalised portal development exercises” on November 4 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire.
According to an update, the event brought together village council members, gaonboras, student leaders, women representatives, and other community members.
Chairman and team leader of LEMSACHENLOK, Dr. Y Nuklu Phom, speaking on the occasion, highlighted key aspects such as the importance of establishing biodiversity peace corridors and trans-border biodiversity corridors under Mission Ecology to create an augmented ecosphere for harmonious coexistence between humans and biodiversity.
He reiterated that conservation today is not merely about setting aside forest areas or restricting hunting and logging. While these remain foundational, he stressed the need for digitalised portal development exercises, management plan initiatives with resource mapping, and sustainable livelihoods linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The team also visited Seyochung and Tethuyo villages under Kiphire district, where a community fishery was launched at Seyochung Village as a joint venture between the Seyochung Village Council and LEMSACHENLOK under the Sustainable Community Development initiative.
The district administration, LEMSACHENLOK, and participating villages pledged to maintain their unity and dedication towards a sustainable environment in the days to come.
