A workshop on the Prime Minister National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme in Dimapur highlights stipend support for Northeast apprentices and plans for monthly apprenticeship melas.

DIMAPUR — A one-day awareness and outreach workshop on the Prime Minister National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) was conducted on Wednesday at Hotel Europa Inn, Dimapur, by the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE), Assam, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with the Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI).
According to an update, the workshop aimed to strengthen the linkage between vocational training institutions and industry establishments by promoting apprenticeship as a structured pathway to employment.
More than 100 participants attended the programme, including trainees and instructors from Government ITI Dimapur, officials from the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DoESDE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), MSME Tool Room, and representatives from various government departments and private industry establishments.

Resource persons from the MSDE ecosystem and sector skill bodies delivered technical and awareness sessions on PM-NAPS, covering key features such as employer incentives, stipend support, online registration processes, contract generation, compliance requirements, and benefits of engaging apprentices.
A key highlight of the workshop was the announcement of a special intervention for the North Eastern Region, under which apprentices from the region undergoing apprenticeship training—within or outside the Northeast—will receive INR 3,000 as partial stipend support through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under PM-NAPS.
The resource persons included Alongse Sangtam, Joint Director, DoESDE, Nagaland; Rohan R Patil, Deputy Director, RDSDE Assam; Pravin Bhaskar Yadav, SEC-Nagaland, NSDC; Pinaki Sankar Deb, Senior Manager, CSDCI; and Netenba Ajem, Principal, Government Women ITI, Chümoukedima.
During the event, Kamaiah Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the DoESDE to facilitate and implement the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PM-NAM) across the state.
As per the plan, four PM-NAMs will be organised every month in different districts to connect local youth with apprenticeship and employment opportunities.
