- DIMAPUR — The
Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPG) has taken strong
exception to what it termed as ‘unwarranted act of forceful intrusion, physical
assaults of cadres, unprovoked firing and life attempt’ on Mughato Chophy,
finance kilonser of NSCN (R), allegedly by one Khekato Kinimi, vice president
of NSCN (Khango) on May 24 midnight.
- It has described the incident as a matter of grave concern
that an official occupying top position in an organisation has to resort to violence
and an evil scheme to kill and destroy another compatriot while the rest of
Nagas including the Naga political groups, tribal hohos and stakeholders are
sincerely striving to move forward by foregoing the past bitterness.

- “The criminalisation of the Naga struggle by individual
leaders and political groups has caused huge erosion of confidence and faith of
the Naga people. And to resuscitate our sacred struggle, leaders of various
political groups must rein in hooligans and hoodlums in their respective set-up
rather than encouraging or aiding such elements,” the statement read.
- It was of the opinion that all inter-factional violence is
not the need of the hour, rather bridging gap, promoting understanding and
mutual acceptance is the only path to assert the right and identity of the
Nagas and to collectively secure the shared vision and future of our people.
- The WC-NNPG earnestly appealed to all the NPG to exercise
restraint and maturity in resolving any misunderstanding and ensure that
similar instances of violence and aggression are not repeated in the future.
