DIMAPUR — The Nagaland state BJP Mahila Morcha organised an all-women two-wheeler rally on Wednesday as part of a campaign to build grassroots support for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women's Reservation Act), which provides 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
The two-wheeler rally saw women riders on scooties and bikes come together in support of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, aiming to raise awareness and mobilise public backing for the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Act.
Flagged off from the new DMC office at Forest Colony in Dimapur, the rally proceeded through Dhobinalla, Clock Tower, Duncan Basti and the old DC office before returning to the new DMC office.

Flagging off the rally, State Council Member of BJP Nagaland Kahuli Sema said the turnout was “very pleasing” and “beyond expectations” as she pointed out “usually, our women have a lot of household chores and work to do in the early morning."
However, setting that aside to show solidarity for the 33% reservation, she felt that the participation showed that everyone feels strongly about it. She hoped that this message would reach Delhi, the prime minister, and the ministers in the Centre.
Kahuli said the Mahila Sammelan (women’s conference) scheduled at the Town Hall in Dimapur on April 16 is open to all women, cutting across party lines. She invited all women who support the 33% reservation under the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam to attend the women’s conference. She added that the organisers are expecting women from different parties to turn up for the event.
