WOKHA — Construction of road and side drains along the stretch from Police Point to District Hospital, Wokha, officially commenced on October 1. Following this, the district administration issued a public advisory regulating traffic movement.
According to an order issued by ADC Wokha, the road from Police Point to DC Office Junction has been completely closed. Commuters travelling to the DC office have been advised to use the DPO office road as an alternative route.
To streamline traffic, the stretch from DPO Office to Molonsu Junction has been designated as a one-way route, with exit permitted only through PWD Junction and Molonsu Junction. Vehicles approaching from the hospital side have been directed to take the GHSS road.

Commercial activities along the affected stretch have also been restricted. Loading and unloading of goods will be allowed only between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m., while halting of commercial vehicles during daytime hours is strictly prohibited.
The ADC further ordered the immediate removal of all forms of encroachment—temporary or permanent—along the construction route. This includes unauthorised stalls, structures, construction materials, and unused vehicles that may obstruct progress.
It may be noted that the road had remained closed for several months following the cave-in of a culvert at Molonsu Colony. Immediate restoration could not be undertaken due to financial constraints. However, the Urban Development department eventually sanctioned the work order, and contractors waited for the end of the monsoon season to begin construction.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate and adhere to the guidelines in the interest of public safety and timely completion of the project, which is expected to take about two months.
