DIMAPUR — The Zeliangrong Youth Organisation Nagaland (ZYON) on Tuesday set an ultimatum for the state government to deliver justice in the Pimla murder case by October 9, warning that intensified and “non-peaceful” agitations will follow if the demand is not met.
ZYON president R John Zeliang announced the deadline at a press conference held at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur. He said the organisation had exhausted all peaceful and democratic means to pursue the case, including protest rallies and repeated memorandums, but has only been met with government negligence.
“We held a protest rally in Dimapur on August 25 and gave a 15-day ultimatum then, but there was no response,” he said.
This time, he warned, there will be no extension if the government fails to reveal the name of the culprit in the public domain and ensure justice by October 9.

John also criticised the delay in the investigation, alleging that a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report, reportedly ready, remains unopened because of the absence of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) member. He pointed to the lack of forensic and polygraph facilities in the state, questioning the seriousness and accountability of the authorities.
“The people of Nagaland deserve justice, modern facilities and a responsive government,” he asserted.
President of the Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation Nagaland, Apeuna Iheilung, expressed gratitude to student leaders and supporters who have joined the campaign.
“We speak for the women, for their security and for justice for the death of our sister,” she said, calling on women, mothers and concerned citizens across Nagaland to stand together in the struggle for accountability.
Zeliang Youth Organisation Dimapur president, Idizeung, also questioned whether the delay was linked to the victim’s community background or lack of political connections. He asked why elected leaders entrusted with public safety appeared inactive.
“This is not just a Zeliangrong case. We are fighting so this kind of incident does not recur,” he said.
The organisations maintained that if the state government fails to act within the given timeframe, intensified protests will be launched in Peren district starting October 10.
