DPDB meetings in Wokha and Meluri review local developmental priorities, healthcare needs, and administrative setups.

DIMAPUR — The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings for Wokha and Meluri were held under their respective chairmen to review various developmental priorities and administrative concerns in the districts.
Wokha: The Wokha meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall on June 10 under the chairmanship of newly appointed board Chairman and Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan.
According to a DIPR report, MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe and board Vice Chairman and Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao also attended the session.
The meeting began with a review of previous agendas, which included discussions on identifying a feasible location for the construction of a District Hospital Wokha; addressing the drying problem and rejuvenation of the Etsutchukha water pond; and the formation of a high-power committee to study soil conditions in Doyang, particularly in areas where landslides pose a threat to institutions.
The shortage of Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus services within the Wokha district was also deliberated, with the board resolving to request the government to address the matter at the earliest.

Proposals for establishing sub-centres at Pyangsa and Aree New villages were taken up. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung and Advisor Yanthan highlighted the hardships faced by villagers in accessing basic healthcare facilities.
Chairman Mhathung Yanthan directed that all administrative officers posted outside Wokha town but within the district must attend board meetings regularly to ensure effective governance and public service. He urged officers and heads of departments to maintain strict attendance and actively participate in discussions.
Yanthan commended the Lotha Youth Hoho for its mission to eradicate drug abuse in Wokha. He informed them that board members will visit de-addiction centres in the district during the next meeting.
Meluri: The monthly board meeting for the Meluri district was held at the DB's Court on Thursday under the chairmanship of Advisor for Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and Inland Waterways Z Nyusietho Nyuthe.
While discussing various developmental issues concerning the district, Nyuthe expressed concern over the shortage of teachers in some government schools under the Pochury area, highlighting the need to induct additional teachers to address the problem.
Deputy Commissioner Phuleshe K Yepthomi highlighted the need to establish a Red Cross Society in Meluri for the welfare of the public. He also requested all departments submit their Local Area Development Programme (LADP) proposals at the earliest.
During the meeting, the board recommended a proposal submitted by Khumiasu village requesting a Regional Taxi Permit to ply from Khumiasu to Dimapur.
