Wokha launches a two-wheeler taxi service with 20 riders to provide convenient transportation and livelihood opportunities.

WOKHA — Two-wheeler taxi service was officially launched in Wokha on Friday, with 20 riders initially introduced to provide faster and more convenient transportation for the public.
To mark the occasion, passengers were offered free rides throughout the day.
The launching programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, as the special guest, along with representatives from the Wokha Town Council, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Transport Officer, and members of the two-wheeler taxi service.
Addressing the riders, Tsanglao urged them to provide reliable and responsible service, maintain cordial relations with passengers, and strictly adhere to traffic regulations, particularly by avoiding overspeeding.
He said the initiative would not only serve as a source of livelihood for the riders but also offer residents a more convenient mode of transportation.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that similar services operating in other districts had benefited both commuters and service providers. He called for cooperation among the riders and advised them to operate within their designated jurisdictions while complying with all prescribed rules and regulations.

Speaking on the occasion, interim body president Chumben Yanthan informed that the service would initially operate from five designated locations: Police Point, NST, SP Office, Niropen colony and Civil Hospital, Wokha.
Passengers can avail the service by contacting riders over the phone or by approaching them at or near the designated parking points.
Service providers were also encouraged to work collectively, extend mutual support and ensure smooth operations.
The dedication prayer of the Wokha two-wheeler taxi was done by Zurenthung Humtsoe, Assistant Pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church.
