Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital in Wokha gets ALS Ambulance.

WOKHA — Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Wokha, on Friday witnessed the launch and flag-off of an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative supported by the IRFC Foundation, the CSR wing of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC Ltd.).
The initiative aims to strengthen emergency healthcare services in the district by providing advanced medical transport facilities for critically ill patients and improving emergency response in remote areas.
The general manager of IRFC, Nav Goel, attended the programme as the special guest, while the additional secretary of Finance and Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Vineet Kumar, attended as guest of honour.
Speaking at the event, Nav Goel stated that IRFC supports projects that create meaningful social impact. He said it was a privilege for IRFC to be associated with Wokha, noting that Nagaland’s hilly terrain and geographical challenges often make emergency medical transportation difficult.
He stated that that the ALS ambulance is not merely a vehicle but a critical life-saving intervention capable of making the difference between life and death during emergencies. He also appreciated the district administration for identifying a project with genuine social significance and public benefit.

The deputy commissioner (DC) of Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao, described the ambulance as a blessing at a time when the hospital was in urgent need of a well-equipped emergency vehicle. He thanked IRFC for supporting the district through the CSR initiative and expressed hope that the ambulance would greatly benefit the people of Wokha.
The guest of honour, Vineet Kumar, informed that the initiative began in September 2025 with the vision of strengthening healthcare services in Wokha district. He thanked IRFC for financing the project and said it was conceptualised to ensure timely healthcare access and improve emergency medical response.
He also appreciated the district administration for continuing the initiative and expressed hope that the ambulance would serve the healthcare needs of the people effectively.
According to a presentation shared during the programme, the ambulance is a Tata Advanced Life Support (ALS) Type-D Ambulance, fully compliant with AIS 125 norms and built on the Tata Winger platform. Described as an “ICU on Wheels,” the vehicle is equipped with advanced life-saving facilities including ECG machine, blood pressure monitor, suction machine, defibrillator, GPS tracking system, oxygen delivery system, auto-loading stretcher, saline and IV support hooks and jumbo dual oxygen cylinder support system.
It also features modular medical cabinetry, dual air-conditioning system, germ-free AIS 125 compliant interiors, roof-mounted LED blinkers and emergency warning systems, public address and siren system, along with external charging support for onboard medical equipment.
The project included all required compliances such as vehicle registration, insurance, GPS integration, medical equipment installation and statutory clearances.
The ambulance was blessed with a prayer by associate pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, Zurenthung Humtsoe, and flagged off by the special guest.
