Agape Higher Secondary School Chümoukedima celebrated Wildlife Week 2025 with the Dimapur Forest Division, promoting human–animal coexistence.

DIMAPUR — Agape Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima, in partnership with the Dimapur Forest Division, organised an event to mark Wildlife Week 2025 on Monday at the school premises.
The annual celebration, observed nationwide from October 2 to the 8th, aims to raise awareness on wildlife conservation. This year’s theme is “Human animal coexistence”, according to an update.
Beizo Suokhrie, divisional forest officer (DFO), Dimapur, delivered the keynote address, underlining the importance of ecological balance and the responsibility of fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
Student leaders Kerikul Lcho, school captain (Class 12 Commerce), and Roviseno Terhuja, vice-captain, shared their perspectives in a short speech session, reflecting youth commitment towards conservation efforts.

Nagaland Zoological Park offers free entry for students during Wildlife Week
The highlight of the event was the declaration and distribution of prizes to winners of the painting competition held in line with the theme of the event. A total of five schools — Goodwin Higher Secondary School, Cosmopolitan High School, Government Higher Secondary School, Nagaland Central Public School, and Agape Higher Secondary School — participated in the programme.
It was stated that each school nominated 10 students to take part in the painting competition based on the theme. An interactive segment was also initiated by Dietholhoutuo Sesa, principal of Agape Higher Secondary School.
Following the programme, a seedling distribution and ceremonial planting were held.
