DIMAPUR — The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed gratitude to Dr. H Kalita, joint director of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, for his generous initiative in supplying quality poultry chicks to the organisation under 'Tribal Sub Plan' of ICAR, Nagaland Centre.
An update from WSH stated that the support from ICAR Nagaland Centre reflected its continued commitment towards promoting sustainable agricultural and allied activities across the state.
It stated that the supply of chicks would significantly benefit farmers and rural households under the western Sumi area by encouraging scientific poultry rearing, improving household income and contributing to nutritional security. It added that the initiative was expected to serve as a catalyst for strengthening rural livelihoods and enhancing self-sufficiency in poultry production within the region.
The hoho also appreciated the efforts of the scientists, technical staff and the entire team of ICAR Nagaland Centre for their proactive engagement and technical guidance in facilitating the distribution process. It stated that their continued support and collaboration with community-based organisations like the WSH demonstrated a shared vision of empowering rural communities through technology transfer and capacity-building initiatives.
Meanwhile, WSH expressed its cooperation and support to ICAR Nagaland Centre in their future endeavours for the development and welfare of farming community. It further expressed optimism that such collaborations would continue to strengthen ties between research institutions and local communities for the sustainable growth of agriculture and allied sectors in the state.
