  • DIMAPUR — The Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF) has expressed solidarity with the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) for “taking a bold and principled stand” by severing ties with the NSCN (Khango-Vusshe) over the unresolved death threat case involving ‘Max Naga.’

  • In a press release, the WNYF stated that the “courageous decision,” backed by the resignation of 18 Angami national workers from the group, reflects not only the collective will of the Angami people but also “the kind of integrity and moral leadership our society desperately needs today.”

  • “In an environment where intimidation, extortion, and unaccountable governance have too often gone unchecked, their action stands as a beacon of justice and accountability.

  • “Their resolve in the face of pressure and threats is an inspiration to all. It marks a turning point, a declaration that the people will no longer tolerate impunity. We believe this is more than just a local stance; it is a call to conscience for the entire Naga society,” the youth front stated.

  • The WNYF also urged all tribes, organisations and individuals to speak out, maintaining that silence breeds impunity.

  • “If we remain silent, we become complicit. It is time we demand accountability, from everyone and in every sphere. Without it, we cannot hope to emerge from the chaos that engulfs our land,” it added.

  • Meanwhile, in a separate press release, the WNYF issued an “urgent public appeal” regarding the missing case of Pesha Khiamniungan, a 19-year-old student of United Christian Higher Secondary School, Diphupar.

  • According to the front, Pesha went missing on May 24, after leaving home around 1 pm to meet friends. An FIR was filed at Diphupar Police Station on May 28. He was last seen on a red scooty (AS-12-G-6685), and his phone has been unreachable since then.

  • The WNYF urged the police to intensify their investigation and deploy all necessary resources, including cyber tracing and surveillance, to ensure his safe recovery. It also requested all residents, youth groups, and civil societies across Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts to assist with any information or sightings that may help locate the missing boy.
