KOHIMA/DIMAPUR — One person has been arrested in connection with a viral video containing criminal intimidation against members of the Zeliang community, Kohima Police said on Friday.
The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Nur Bahadur Chettri, a resident of Jotsoma in Kohima district. He was apprehended by Kohima Police with assistance from Peren Police.
Police said further investigation is ongoing.
The case stems from a First Information Report (FIR) filed earlier by the Nagaland Zeliang Youth Organisation (NZYO) at Jalukie Police Station against an unidentified individual on charges of criminal intimidation, promoting enmity between groups and issuing death threats against members of the Zeliang community.

Meanwhile, the Peren District Gorkha Union (PDGU) has also filed an FIR at Jalukie Police Station against an unknown person from the Gorkha community for implicating the community and creating fear among its members.
In the FIR filed on April 15, the president of PDGU, Thul Bahadur, urged the police to take up the matter urgently and arrest the person at the earliest, while condemning the use of the district’s name in the video.
