DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Zeliang Youth Organisation (NZYO) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified individual on charges of criminal intimidation, promoting enmity between groups, and issuing death threats against members of the Zeliang community.
In the FIR lodged at Jalukie Police Station, the NZYO stated that an unknown man, identifying himself as ‘Nepali’, appeared in a video circulating on social media claiming to have killed a Zeliang man and disposed of the body in a river.
The individual, speaking in Nagamese, allegedly threatened to continue such acts.
The organisation further stated that the individual, who appeared to be intoxicated, was seen in the video claiming that he had “killed Zeliang men” and warning that he would “continue killing Zeliang people.”

The video clip—approximately 7 minutes and 57 seconds long—shows the man, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years of age, has a slim build, medium-length black hair, and a full beard with a long chin tuft, it stated.
According to the NZYO, the alleged acts attract provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Section 351 (criminal intimidation), Section 351(2) (threat to cause death), Section 196 (promoting enmity between groups), Section 353 (statements conducing to public mischief), and Section 61 (criminal conspiracy).
It also cited Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, along with other relevant provisions.
Citing the explicit threats and the communal nature of the statements, the NZYO urged the police to immediately register a case against the unidentified individual and the person who recorded the video.
It also called for steps to trace the origin of the video through cyber analysis, identify those involved, and verify the authenticity of the claims made.
The organisation urged authorities to investigate the veracity of the claim regarding the alleged killings, take steps to remove the video from social media platforms, and ensure protection for vulnerable members of the Zeliang community.
The NZYO stated that the video has caused widespread alarm, fear, and potential communal tension, and called for swift action to prevent escalation.
It also assured full cooperation with the investigation.
The organisation has submitted a copy of the video in a pen drive along with the link where it was first accessed.
