- DIPHU — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Karbi Anglong,
will launch the national campaign ‘Vikshit Krishi Sangkalp Abhiyan’ from May 29
to June 12.
- The campaign would be jointly organised by the Department of
Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Indian Council of Agricultural
Research (ICAR) and Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW).
- The objective of the campaign is to create awareness among
farmers about region specific sustainable technologies related to major Kharif
crops of the district, promoting the use of soil health cards for judicious use
of fertilisers including micronutrients, disseminating the information about
various government schemes and policies beneficial for farmers and gathering
the feedback from farmers to align future research and innovations matching to
the ground-level needs.

- A total of 5 development blocks namely Lumbajong, Bokajan,
Samelangso, Langsomepi and Nilip have been selected for the campaign. The
campaign would be implemented by two expert teams for two different locations
per day, each team consisting of scientists from ICAR institutes, KVK and
AAU-ZRS, Diphu, field officers from line departments, banking officials as well
as experts from ASRLM covering 200 farmers each day per location.
- It would target villages with special emphasis on tribal,
aspirational and geographically challenging areas.
- The campaign is expected to benefit farmers with scientific
techniques and innovations in agriculture, which would ultimately boost the
production and productivity of crops.
