- DIMAPUR — Nagaland
recorded a total of 9,685 vehicle registrations between January and May 4,
2025, according to data from the Vahan dashboard.
- While the data for 2025 only covers the first four days of
May, early trends suggest a cautious start to the year when compared to the
14,126 vehicles registered during the same five-month period in 2024.
- Of the vehicles registered so far in 2025, 4,938 fall under
the transport category. These include 2,145 goods carriers and 1,936
articulated vehicles. Other transport vehicles include 284 buses, 227 passenger
three-wheelers, 168 dumpers, and smaller numbers of ambulances (15),
fire-fighting vehicles (2), and puller tractors (11).
- On the non-transport side, 4,747 vehicles were registered,
led by 2,546 private motor cars and 1,983 motorcycles and scooters.
- Construction equipment vehicles also formed a significant
portion, with 215 units added to the roads this year.
- Tata Motors emerged as the most registered brand, clocking
1,858 vehicles across both commercial and passenger segments. Close on its
heels, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd followed with 1,350 registrations in the
passenger vehicle market.
- Ashok Leyland Ltd emerged as a key player in the commercial
segment, registering 1,263 vehicles, as per data available on the dashboard.
- In the two-wheeler segment, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter
India Pvt Ltd led with 567 registrations, followed by TVS Motor Company Ltd
with 454 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd with 295, while Royal Enfield recorded 229
units.

- Further, brands like JCB India Ltd (46 units), AJAX
Engineering Pvt Ltd (25), and Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd (18) were among the top
contributors in construction vehicle registrations.
