- DIMAPUR — In a significant step towards
addressing power deficits and promoting green energy in the state, Chief
Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday launched the Nagaland Solar Mission in Kohima.
- An update from the DIPR stated that the mission, aimed at
installing residential Roof Top Solar (RTS) systems, is being implemented in
convergence with the Prime Minister Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG:MBY).
- The launch ceremony took place at the Chief Minister's
Office, Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima, with Minister for Power and
Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye also in attendance.
- Addressing the gathering, Rio emphasised the Nagaland
government's commitment to tackling the state's perennial power shortages
through this solar initiative.
- To further incentivise adoption and bolster the green energy
revolution, the state government has pledged an additional subsidy of up to INR
50,000 for systems up to 3 kW, provided through budgetary support.
- According to the chief minister, this additional state
support will significantly contribute to achieving the government of India's
target under PMSG:MBY, which aims to install one crore RTS systems on mission
mode by 2026-27.
- He pointed out that the combined subsidies from the state
and central governments would cover a substantial portion of the installation
costs for households.
