Technical fault at Kohima RESS disrupts power supply to parts of Kohima town and nearby villages; restoration efforts underway
DIMAPUR — A technical failure at the 132/33/11kV Receiving Sub-Station (RESS) in Kohima on Monday morning disrupted electricity supply to parts of Kohima town and several adjoining villages, with the Power department working to restore services through alternate arrangements.
According to the department, the outage was caused by damage to the 11kV indoor vacuum circuit breaker (VCB) of the Bazaar feeder at Kohima substation.
The disruption affected parts of Kohima town as well as the rural areas of Jotsoma, Khonoma, Mezoma and Poilwa.
In a press release, the executive engineer of Kohima Transmission Division stated that the department was making all-out efforts to restore power supply at the earliest by arranging an alternative power feed.
The department appealed to consumers to bear with the inconvenience and cooperate while restoration work is underway, assuring that every effort is being made to normalise electricity supply as quickly as possible.
