DIMAPUR — The Usütomi Baptist Church (UBC), Zunheboto district, formally commenced its pre-centennial jubilee celebrations by organising a jubilee run on Friday, marking the beginning of activities leading up to its historic 100-year milestone in 2026.
In anticipation of the main centennial jubilee scheduled for 2026, the church organised the run as a symbolic act of remembrance, thanksgiving and preparation for the centenary, an update stated.
The event witnessed participation of more than 300 members of the village from towns and cities, including both young and elderly members who walked together from the village gate to the church premises.
During the flag-off programme, Joseph Hesso, chairman of the planning board, encouraged the community to strive to be winners not only in spiritual journey but also in life.

He urged the community to continue living in love, unity and mutual respect, values that have sustained the church and the community over the decades.
Following the run, a jubilee flag was unfurled at the church premises. This was followed by a symbolic act where all village households raised white flags. In addition, elders above the age of 75, along with members of the planning board, released pigeons to mark the occasion, signifying prayers of thanksgiving for the past and hope for a future guided by divine peace and unity.
Usütomi Baptist Church is preparing to celebrate 100 years of Christianity in the month of December in 2026.
