DIMAPUR — The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) recently inspected the ongoing preparation works for the proposed visit of the union finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, to Kiphire aspirational district.

In an update, USSC has wholeheartedly welcomed the visit, which was expected to bring renewed focus to the developmental challenges faced by the district.

Following the inspection, USSC urged the people of Kiphire to come together and accord warm welcome to the union finance minister. It encouraged everyone to showcase the best of Kiphire’s hospitality and maintain cleanliness and order during the important visit.

USSC has appreciated the ongoing works taken up by district administration in filling up potholes despite lack of fund allocation. However, it expressed dismay for not maintaining the circular roads of Kiphire aspirational district though the union finance minister’s visit was informed well ahead of time. It has attributed to lackadaisical attitude of various departments for placing Kiphire district in the bottom line index of non-performing category.

Meanwhile, the conference has appealed to the concerned department to blacktop circular roads in Kiphire district headquarters in the shortest possible time. It further assured commitment to make the union finance minister’s visit to Kiphire a success.
