DIMAPUR — Uttar Pradesh defeated Assam 3-0 in the semi-final 1 of the Dr. T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier II) at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Monday.
The win secures Uttar Pradesh a place in the final on December 11, where they will meet Maharashtra.
The match was attended by Aotula T Imchen, commissioner of police, Dimapur, as the match patron.
Uttar Pradesh opened the scoring in the first half, with Anjali Yadav netting the opener in the 28th minute. Ten minutes later, Divya doubled the lead at the 39-minute mark.
Early on, both teams sought rhythm—Assam with early possession and a high press—but Uttar Pradesh’s tactical organisation soon took over, their compact midfield enabling smooth transitions from defence to attack.

Even though Assam dominated possession with 54%, they could not translate that control into real threats, owing to Uttar Pradesh’s disciplined backline.
Assam stepped up the pressure in the second half, attacking the flanks and securing six corners, but Uttar Pradesh’s goalkeeper and defence stood firm.
Anjali Yadav sealed the win with a clinical finish in the 69th minute, completing her brace. Despite dominating possession and passing, Assam struggled to break through, with Uttar Pradesh landing 7 shots on target to Assam’s 3.
