MOKOKCHUNG — In a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 150th birth anniversary, Mokokchung organised a ‘Unity Walk’ (‘Padyatra’) on Thursday, from town hall to the Imkongmeren Sports Complex.
The procession drew an impressive array of participants, including senior superintendent of police, Mokokchung; heads of various government offices; 12th Assam Rifles; CRPF; Home Guards and Civil Defence; Ex-Servicemen Association; chairman and councillors of Mokokchung Municipal Council; Ao Senden; Watsu Mungdang; Bharat Scouts & Guides; National Cadet Corps; National Service Scheme; Mokokchung Town Gaonboras Association; and All Wards Union, Mokokchung.
The unity walk began with a formal programme at the town hall, where Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma addressed the gathering, accompanied by short speeches from the Ao Senden representative and others. The march concluded with a unity pledge.
